A Permanent Account Number or PAN Card is a National Identification Card. It is the Indian Income Tax Department that assigns this 10-digit alphabet and unique account number to the taxpayer, company or HUF. In this article, we will explore how a pan card apply online.
Nowadays you can partially apply for PAN online. Because when all of these steps are finished, you will still need to send accreditation to agencies authorized by the Income Tax Department to facilitate PAN applications on behalf of the National Securities Depository (NSDL) or UTI Infrastructure Technology (UTITL).

How to Apply for PAN Card?
PANs can be applied online. Further, requests for changes or modifications to PAN data can also be made online.
How to Apply for PAN Card Online: PAN can be applied online on the NSDL website or the UTIITSL website.
Both have been approved by the Government of India for the issue of PANs or change/amendment of PAN on behalf of the Income Tax Department.
The online process is one of the most hassle-free ways to get a pan. An applicant is required to complete and submit the application form online only with payment of processing fee.
Copies of the required papers can be sent later by NSDL or UTIITSL, post for verification.

Step by step to apply online
>>> Visit the NSDL website https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html
>>> Click on ‘Application Type’ and choose the shape that applies to you – Form 49A for Residents and 49AA for Non-Residents (NRIs) and Foreign Citizens.
>>> Select Category: ‘Individual’
>>>Fill out the remaining information, such as name and date of birth. The information marked with a star sign must be filled in.
>>>Once you click on the ‘Submit’ button a token number will be generated.
You will need to click on the link to continue your PAN application.

You may only have a screenshot of the token number display page for your records unless the token number is sent to your email address due to some technical issues.
>>> A new page will appear on your screen. There will be three options for asking how you want to proceed with your application.
There are three options
(i) Digitally submit via e-KYC and e-sign (paperless)
(ii) submit the scanned image via e-sign and
(iii) Physically forwarded application documents.
>>> Enter your details such as Aadhaar number, parents name etc. Your father or mother may have the option to print the name on the PAN card.
>>> After you have filled in all the relevant information, click ‘Next’.
A new page will appear asking you to fill in additional personal details such as income source, address, contact details.
>>> Click ‘Next’ after filling all the personal details.

>>> The next step is to enter your area code, AO (evaluation officer) type, range code, and AO number.
You can find these details in this window.
>>> Click ‘Next’ when these details are complete.

>>> In the last step, you will be asked to select and upload supporting documents, including your photograph and signature.
>>> According to the NSDL helpline, once the documents are uploaded you will have to pay.
You can pay using your debit or credit card, net banking or demand draft.

If you choose to send physical documents instead of choosing E-KYC or E-sign, you will pay 110.
>>> Once you make the payment, you need to go through the Aadhaar authentication process.
An OTP is going to be sent to the mobile/email linked to your Aadhaar.
>>> If your Aadhaar authentication process is successful, take a replica of the receipt with a 15 digit unique accreditation number, sign and send it to >>>

Then take a print out of the acknowledgment, paste your picture and sign the receipt.
You will also need to send a photocopy of the uploaded document.
You should super-scrip the envelope ‘Application for PAN-N-15 Digit Account Number’ (i.e., ‘Apply for PAN – N-881010200000097’).
You can send this envelope by post or courier and it should arrive in NSDL within 15 days of the date of the online application.
The turnaround time for processing the pan application is 15-20 days.
