If you can remember the correct password and you have a backup system set up, you will be asked to proceed in different ways.
If you cannot keep in mind any of them, click “Try a special question”.
The latter option will send a code to a recovery email, instead of assuming you have a secondary recovery email (which you returned when you first created your Gmail account).
Using this option will send you a link to your secondary email account (which does not require Gmail) with a number code that will allow you to set up a new password and regain access to your account.
Check your mail on this mail account to ascertain the code, then enter it to unlock a replacement password generator.
New accounts may have phone number backup options.
If that doesn’t work – say, you have no access to the account you originally designated as a backup – click “Try another query” again.
At now, create a replacement password and ensure it. You now have access to your account again.
